Blue Cave is one of the most popular and most visited locations of the Bay of Kotor. It is located on Lustica Peninsula. The name of the cave comes from the color of the sea reflected by the sun light on the walls. The sea is 5 metres deep and the cave is 9 metres high, high enough for the boats to sail in. 

You can get to Blue Cave by boat trip departing from Kotor, Budva or Herceg Novi. Even though it’s popular it doesn’t get crowded even in July or August as the boats just anchor for 10-15 minutes. It is also possible to rent a car, drive to Zanjice and take a speedboat from there to the Blue Cave.

Can I drive to the Blue Cave?

No, it’s not possible to drive to the Blue Cave. It can only be visited by boat trips. You can drive to Herceg Novi or Zanjice where you can take speedboat to the Blue Cave. It is also possible to go to the Blue Cave from Kotor.

The boat trips to the Blue Cave

The boat trips leaving from Herceg Novi usually combines the Blue Cave with the other attractions like Mamula Island and Zanjice Beach. It takes 45 minutes from Herceg Novi to the Blue Cave

The boat trips leaving from Kotor passes by Mamula Island and Herceg Novi but only stops at Our lady of the Rocks, Perast and the Blue Cave. The boat tour takes totally 3 hours.
