How much does it cost to rent a car in Montenegro?
There are local car rental companies and the well-known international car rental companies in Montenegro and in towns like Kotor, Podgorica, Niksic, Tivat, Herceg Novi etc. You can compare the prices and choose the best option but in order to give you an idea per day price for a Renault Twingo or a similar type car starts from 45Euros. Prices may decrease for long term rentals.
Most car rental companies include basic collision damage protection, basic theft protection, airport surcharge (if starting from the airport) and VAT.
How much does it cost to buy a car in Montenegro?
A new Volkswagen Golf or Toyota Corolla costs around 16,500 Euros. But foreigners cannot buy a car unless they have a company. They can only buy a car in the name of their company.
Foreigners with temporary residence permit may register their car and keep the car during their stay in Montenegro.
In order to register your own car you need a copy of certificate of registration of vehicle, the contract of sale and purchase, your passport with a copy of the photo page and the residence permit page. Then your car goes through the technical check. There’ll be a cost of registration and taxes which depend on the type of your car.
